India is celebrating World Students’ Day today. The 89th birth anniversary of former President APJ Abdul Kalam on 15th October 2020 to honour the most loved President of India who was a scientist, a teacher, an author ,great statesman,among many other roles that he played. Dr Kalam was born on October 15, 1931, in Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu, and studied physics and aerospace engineering. Good teachers make great human beings, Dr Kalam believed.

Kalam was also known as the ‘Missile Man of India’ for his work on Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998 when a series of five nuclear bomb test explosions were conducted by India. In 2010, the United Nations declared World Students’ Day to be celebrated on Kalam’s birthday to honour and mark his efforts towards promoting education
