Delhi Police registers 22 FIRs in connection with farmers’ tractor rally

A tractor rally by farmers Tuesday turned violent after protesters deviated from the route approved by the Delhi Police, overturned vehicles and breached barriers. The Delhi Police on Tuesday registered seven FIRs in connection with the protesting farmers’ tractor parade in the national capital, officials said here.“Three FIRs were registered in east district, three in Dwarka and one in Shahdara district,” a police official said. Delhi witnessed chaotic scenes on Tuesday as groups of protesting farmers broke off from planned Republic Day tractor parade routes and swarmed into the heart of the national capital, hoisting a farm union flag and a Sikh religious flag on the ramparts of Red Fort. Police used tear gas, water cannons and lathi charges to stop farmers at several locations in the city
