KSRTC strike in Karnataka: govt suffers Rs 14 crore loss

Bengaluru: Transport workers are on strike in Karnataka, which caused an estimated loss of Rs 14 crore to transport corporations in the state. BMTC has a revenue of around Rs 2.5 to Rs 3 crore. KSRTC has a daily revenue of Rs 7 crore, the Northwest Transport and the Northeast Transport generate Rs 2 crore revenue each.

Crores of rupees are lost due to the strike by the transport workers. Previously buses were shut down from December 11 to 14. This caused a loss of Rs 2,250 crore to the transport corporation besides causing inconvenience to people.  People suffered problems due to protest from transport workers. A physically challenged man, who was waiting for a bus at BMTC bus station in Bangalore, died of a heart attack. In Yadagiri, an old woman and a newborn baby suffered due to this.
